Couple reviewing government grant paperwork for home energy improvements

    Government Grants

What you need to know about the Warm Homes Plan

The UK government’s biggest push yet to help families cut energy bills and make homes cosier. Up to £30,000 available per household.

    Could You Be Eligible?

You might qualify if your home has an EPC rating of D, E, F or G, your household earns under £36,000 a year, or you receive benefits like Universal Credit, Pension Credit or Housing Benefit. You’ll need to be based in England as an owner-occupier or a private tenant with landlord permission.

Good to know: Similar schemes exist for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland — so wherever you are in the UK, there’s likely support available.

    What Could You Get?

Up to £15,000 for energy efficiency improvements like insulation and solar panels, plus another £15,000 toward a low-carbon heating system like a heat pump. That’s up to £30,000 total, aimed at bringing your home to an EPC rating of C or above.

    How Does It Work?

Once approved, your local council contacts you within 10 working days and arranges a registered installer to carry out the work. No money changes hands directly, no one will ask for your bank details, and no one will try to sell you anything. It’s straightforward and safe.

    What About Renters?

Private renters can still apply with landlord permission. Landlords get full funding for their first property and 50% toward additional eligible properties — so it’s worth having that conversation with your landlord.

    Don’t Wait Too Long

The scheme runs from April 2025 to March 2028, but each local council has a limited pot of funding. Once it’s gone, it’s gone — so applying sooner rather than later gives you the best chance.

Can You Stack It With Other Grants?

Yes! The Warm Homes Plan can be combined with other schemes like the Boiler Upgrade Scheme for even more support. We’ll help you figure out the best combination for your situation.
